Survey of Sustainability 2005 by Global Scan ( former Environics)

GlobeScan’s latest Survey of Sustainability Experts firmly puts climate change and energy issues at the top of the Sustainable Development agenda for the next five years. Femke de Man, who is the author of the GlobeScan report says that although general interest in sustainable development was expected to show an upward turn, the increasing concern with climate change and its impacts has proved more dramatic than expected. Another surprise, continued Ms. de Man, was the experts’ estimation of which sector of their national economies will have the farthest to go to achieve sustainability. For as long as the survey has been conducted (1994), the transport sector has been considered the most unsustainable. This year, however, the energy sector came out first.
